We need affordable Internet and Cellular services
The government must stand up to the big telecommunications companies that are ripping off Canadians.
It's simple: People in Canada pay some of the highest prices in the world for access to cellular and Internet services, while wealthy telecommunications companies make billions in profits every year.
Canadians' cell phone bills are 25 times higher than those of other G7 countries.
The NDP plan:
No more big bills. Each person will save an average of $10 on their cellphone or Internet bill, thanks to price caps that ensure people pay a fair price no matter where they live.
No more data caps. End caps on internet plans and require companies to offer affordable, unlimited data plans for cell phones – so there are no surprises at the end of the month.
Basic package for better access. Each company will be required to offer a basic plan for Internet and cellular services that meets the needs of Canadians.
Selling the airwaves should benefit us. The government makes billions selling the right to provide cellular and internet services. People, not big business, should benefit from this money.
